Responsible Introductions. Sustaining Tomorrow’s Garden.
Finding or developing new plants is difficult enough. Negotiating legal issues, nurturing marketing concepts, researching production protocols and developing world-wide relationships is our specialty. For this reason Plants Nouveau is the perfect partner to help you introduce your new plant to the world.
When you choose Plants Nouveau
We pay for all costs associated with protecting and marketing your new selection. There is no cost to you. You just sit back and collect your share of royalties from the sales of your novel plant. Plants Nouveau will share with originators 50% of the royalties collected from any selection worthy of a plant patent on sales in the US and 33% on sales outside of the US.
The country’s best nurseries want to grow our plants!
We license the largest, best-known, and most reputable nurseries in the US, Canada and throughout the world. We only offer exclusives to increase market demand. We have an open licensing policy that affords plant originators who work with our program the maximum royalty revenue possible.
Big nurseries producing large quantities = Increased Royalty Revenue
Our international presence and worldwide reputation allows us to reward our originators with large royalty incomes and international recognition for their new selections.
While our primary market is in the United States, we have a national and international presence. Potentially, 100's of nurseries from the United States can be licensed to grow your new introduction. We also register plants and apply for Plant Breeder's Rights with the Canadian Ornamental Plant Foundation (COPF) and the European Union (EU).
We are working to co-introduce our introductions with the best plant introduction companies in the European Union and throughout Asia.
Evaluation is a top priority!
Plants Nouveau will evaluate your selection in many different regions of the country and abroad to achieve maximum exposure to extreme climactic conditions. We utilize botanic gardens, municipalities, university testing programs, licensed nurseries in extreme climate zones, and garden writers for evaluating our introductions. Each site is required to report on the plants yearly. We also have a team of horticultural experts gathered from around the world who evaluate and give input on a yearly basis.
To introduce a new selection with confidence about its performance, we will adhere to strict evaluation timelines.
We collect the royalties for you
Licensed growers pay a fee per plant sold. Since September of 2005, we have established a relationship with four breeders. two from the Netherlands, one from Japan and one from the United States. A royalty fee is collected per plant sold on introductions registered federally and internationally through plant patents and plant breeder’s rights. At the end of each fiscal year, we pay our originators their share of the royalties collected from the sales of their new plant.

Innovative, diverse marketing
We will market our introductions through several venues. If it is a series of similar products, we develop a logo to represent the series. We will also work to develop point-of-purchse materials and targeted, paid advertisements with trade publications to increase demand. We'll help you sell our plants
To increase sales for our licensed growers, we offer cooperative advertising in reputable trade publications. Cooperative advertising showcases our devoted licensees and allows the trade to contact them directly.
We showcase your plants
We plan to exhibit and showcase your new introductions at many of the most popular horticulture tradeshows in the US, including the Mid-Atlantic Nurseryman's Trade Show, The Mid-America Horticultural Show, The Ohio Short Course, The Perennial Plant Association Symposium and the Annual Garden Writer’s Symposium. These are the best shows in the US for featuring new plant products. We will also regularly submit our new plants for feature in the most popular US trade publications. A plant submitted and chosen for the front cover of the NMPro “New Plant” issue gives nationwide exposure to over 20,000 subscribers and countless pass-along readers.

A proven reputation
The program’s success will be greatly enhanced by the reputation of our principal. She has successfully managed two of the most horticulturally significant new plant introductions in the last two decades. Her international contacts and stellar reputation have gained her international recognition among new plant companies. Nurserymen trust her instincts and know she'll provide them the best protection and most valuable knowledge to help their new plant succeed in a very competitive market.
Nurserymen and breeders from the Netherlands, Japan and the United States have come to Plants Nouveau for an honest, fair deal. They realize that the best interest of the originator is first and foremost and we will not allow big nurseries to dictate the introduction process.
Working with Plants Nouveau promises a sense of satisfaction. All royalties collected by the program (after the originator and staff are paid) are re-invested into the program’s marketing efforts. We are not a large nursery, nor are we an institution trying to fund other research programs. We are simply a new plant introduction company.
Our mission is to protect and market your new introduction in a way that maximizes royalty revenues and recognition for the originator.
