Veronica Moon River
Icy blue flowers on a perfectly formed groundcover
If you're looking for a groundcover that will take up some space but never get too aggressive, try Veronica prostrata 'Moon River'. In late spring, Moon River is covered in icy blue flowers with periwinkle blue veins and puts on quite a show. Place this plant where you will see it at dusk for an extended view because it glows like the moon.
Perfectly happy in dry, sandy soil and average garden soil, this speedwell looks lovely along pathways and in the front of borders. It will also do well in a rock wall or rock garden. This is a versatile, cold-hardy perennial with superior genetics. You will often see this type of speedwell "donut" in the center of the plant. Moon River was selected for its amazing flower coverage and color, and because it does not have a donut in the center like other selections. It also looks lovely in a quart or 1-gallon nursery container, making it ideal for retail garden center sales.
