A healthy, vigorous sea holly with strong stems and distinctive thistle-like blooms. Stems can be harvested young, when the flowers are green, or later, as they mature to a rich purple-blue, from July through August. Commonly grown in sunny gardens and landscapes for its ornamental value, Purple Stars will add texture and color to mixed borders, cutting gardens, and pollinator gardens with its striking flowers and unique foliage. Dry flower heads make attractive additions to floral arrangements.
